The New School provides The Village as a service to the New School community (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) and invited guests. The New School has partnered with Tenlegs, LLC to host and operate the website (the “Service”).

This policy describes how Tenlegs, LLC handles information collected and received from users of the Service.

The Service is meant to be an open community, yet to remain respectful of users’ privacy. In order to support an open community for creators and consumers of creative content, some of your activities on the Service may be identified by your First and Last Name as described in this policy. Tenlegs is committed to providing a safe and friendly environment for creative people to interact without having their personal information misused.

By using the Service, you consent to Tenlegs’ collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy.


The information Tenlegs may collect and store includes the following:

  • E-mail address, contact information, and other information provided as part of account creation;
  • Content, Profile Information, and other information posted to the Service;
  • Comments, ratings, favorites, following, "likes," sharing and other postings ("Community Activity");
  • Direct communications between and among users using the communications and collaboration tools provided by the Service;
  • Notices, dispute resolution, and other correspondence through the Service or sent physically; and
  • Other information from your interaction with the Service and content, including computer and connection information, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the website, internet protocol (IP) address, and standard web log information.

Use of Your Information

Tenlegs’ primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide a safe, smooth, efficient, and customized experience for the Service. Tenlegs uses such information to:

  • Provide the Service and customer support you request;
  • Resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems;
  • Prevent or respond to prohibited or illegal activities;
  • Enforce our Copyright Policy and Terms of Use;
  • Customize, measure, and improve the Service.
  • For users who connect a Google or G Suite account, we access Contacts to find and offer connections to other users on the Tenlegs platform.


We will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Information You Share

Your Username, First Name and Last Name are connected to all of your activity on the Service. Your Username, Profile Information, and Community Activity are available to other users of the Service. Because we use your First and Last Name, other users will be able to personally identify you and your activities on the Service.

Information about your Content, Comments about you or your Content, and Community Activity related to your Content will be visible to other users of the Service. Any Profile Information you provide will also be visible to other users of the Service. Projects you create that are marked private will only be visible to anyone invited as a collaborator on that Project.

Please also be aware that if you access the Service from a shared computer (e.g., in an Internet cafe) certain information about you, such as your Username, First Name, and Last Name may be visible to other individuals who use the computer after you.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Tenlegs uses "cookies" (small files placed on your hard drive) on certain webpages to help analyze our webpage flow, customize the Service, and promote trust and safety. Tenlegs also uses cookies to identify you and maintain your signed-in status.

Tenlegs offers certain features that are available only through the use of cookies. You can decline cookies if your browser permits, although doing so may interfere with your use of some components of the Service. You may encounter cookies from third parties on certain pages of the website that Tenlegs does not control. Most cookies are "session cookies," meaning that they are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of a session.

Tenlegs employs technology for web analytics that help us better manage content on the Service. This technology can track the on-site movements and activities of Service users.

Disclosure of Your Information

Tenlegs may disclose personal information to respond to legal requirements, enforce our policies and respond to claims that Content or other material violate the rights of others, or protect anyone's property or safety. Such information will be disclosed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Tenlegs may also share your personal information with:

  • Service providers under contract who help with our business operations;
  • Law enforcement or other governmental officials, in response to a verified request relating to a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity;
  • Third parties that provide a valid subpoena or court order; or
  • Other business entities, should we plan to merge with or be acquired by that business entity.

Communications and Collaboration Tools

The Service includes a variety of communications and collaborations tools that allow you to communicate with other users, collaborate on Projects, and post Comments.

If you choose to disclose your personal information as part of such communications, Tenlegs does not control the use of your information by the readers. This Privacy Policy will not apply, and you may be subject to the privacy policies of third parties where applicable.

Tenlegs may temporarily store your communications (whether open or one-on-one). However, we do not generally use this information for any purpose other than providing communications features.

No Spam, Spyware, or Spoofing

Tenlegs does not tolerate spam. You shall not use our communication tools to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate the Terms of Use. Tenlegs automatically scans and may manually filter messages to check for spam, viruses, phishing attacks, and other malicious or illegal activity.

Password and Account Protection

We encourage you to follow strong password selection methods when setting your account password. Do not disclose your password to anyone. Please be advised that you are responsible for all actions taken under your account on the Service. If you lose control of your password, you may lose substantial control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately change your password and notify us if you need assistance. You can change your password at any time in your account information.

Accessing, Reviewing, and Changing Your Information

You can see, review, and change some of your Profile Information by signing in to your account. Generally, Tenlegs will not manually modify your information, because it is very difficult to verify your identity remotely. You must promptly update your Profile Information if it changes or is inaccurate.

Once you make a Comment or other posting, you may not be able to change or remove it. Tenlegs may retain personal information to comply with law, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce the Terms of Use, and take other actions permitted by law.


Tenlegs will use reasonable security tools (e.g., encryption, passwords, physical security) to protect information against unauthorized access and disclosure. Tenlegs follows generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once Tenlegs receives it. However, third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications, and other users may abuse or misuse your information that they collect from the Tenlegs website. Therefore, although we work very hard to protect your privacy, we cannot guarantee that your personal information or private communications will always remain private.

Third Parties

This policy addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect or receive from you and use to conduct the business of Tenlegs, as described in this Privacy Policy. If you choose to disclose your information to third parties, including other users, through the Service or other means, different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of the information you disclose to them. Tenlegs does not control the use of your information by third parties (except where they act on our behalf), and you are subject to the privacy policies of third parties where applicable.

Tenlegs employs other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and needs to share your information with them to provide products and services to you.
